"Logansteno: Bought a VW?" (logansteno)

Title is pretty self explanatory. For 35k, what NEW vehicle would you pick from any manufacturer?
I myself would pick a BMW 320i manual with sport package. No other options selected, the car undercuts the limit by $25 at $34,975.
I chose this because from what I've read on Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and Even Jalopnik, everything about this car is near perfect except for the steering. Plus, I like the looks of the F30.
The interior is SensaTec, but I can live with faux leather.
So what's your choice when it comes to a 35k driving machine?

The steering is so bad I'd throw it off my list. What does the sti start at 34,900? That's what I'd get.

2014 Wrx Limited. The Sti is slightly over 35 grand. With all the options I'd want it would cost $32,727. Which isn't a bad price.

Atcually I just checked, 2015 sti starts at 34,495. That leaves some for heated seats or maybe leather.

The 2015 when it comes out, for some reason where I live the prices are slightly more expensive.

I'd like to buy some sort of premium hatch/wagon with MT and RWD, like the BMW M135i, but there aren't really any options in the US like that. The closest options that I can think of are the GTI and Focus ST; a nicely optioned ST is only $27k list. Maybe I'd pick up a 2014 STI, which is $37k, but I'm sure they'd be willing to do a deal and sell it for $35k.

$10k may be a bit short for a new longblock and transmission. Or were you wanting to swap used powertrain into a new car? :D

Can't argue with affordable power. I may have to betray my Bavarian brethren and go 5.0.

I agree. I've owned more 3ers than any other car in my life. But the ATS is a better deal if you're buying new. And I thinks it looks better too.
I have no interest in the F30 at all. Nothing from the 320i to the M3 excites me. I think we'll have to wait for the next generation for the steering to be better and for the M3 to be exciting. The new M3 doesn't seem to stand out from its rivals like it used to.
